In general, gifted children are easy to see, even by the uninitiated.

In general, gifted children are easy to see, even by the uninitiated.
Gifted children go beyond the "normal" limit of intelligence and require special education / care / supervision. Techniques and tips on how to help the gifted child will be the subject of a future article.
It is good, however, if you want to be confident or have a suspicion that your child is gifted, pay attention to some details that can elucidate you. Gifted children may have more (or all of the following) abilities:

  • Cognitive skills. The gifted children were inevitably linked to the abilities that were out of the ordinary in the cognitive sphere. They are often very good observers, extremely curious and interested in what is happening around them, they have an excellent memory, long-term and distributive attention, argued speeches and the power of abstraction, conceptualization and synthesis.
    They can quickly make connections between ideas or events, have a fluent, flexible, logical thinking, give originality, quickly identify solutions to problems, learn quickly and have an overflowing imagination.
  • Social and emotional skills. The emotional universe of a gifted child is also very rich and complex. Often they are interested in social or philosophical problems, they are very sensitive, perfectionist, energetic, they have a very developed sense of humor, they have intrinsic motivations and they relate well with parents, teachers and adults in general.
  • Vocabulary and speech. The communication skills of a gifted child are more developed than those of an ordinary child. The gifted children have an extended vocabulary, they can start reading at very young ages, they read very quickly and from different subjects and often ask "What if ...?". They usually prefer books and magazines that are made for children older than themselves and are pleased to be informed.
  • Physical abilities. Usually gifted children also have physical abilities of execution: they are well coordinated, balanced, they have an athletic physique, they have the sense of rhythm, they are energetic, resistant to effort and perseverance.
  • The IQ test. IQ tests, performed correctly at school, at home or on the internet, can elucidate you to some extent on your child's intelligence level (Attention! These tests are challenged by many specialists). A score above 130 can demonstrate your child's above average abilities, and a score above 145 means he is gifted.
